“It’s hard to be an old person,” my great-aunt says on the phone to me. “I spend most of the day calling to figure out how to change my Times subscription, or fix the bill for Murray’s rehab, or fight with the state about that letter for our house on Fire Island.”
Glad to see the garden of anxiety back in action! I sympathize with way things used to be. Before social media & what not. How did all those generations tolerate everything? haha! Also San Diego shout out!
This is truth --- I do think people just get tired of it all - most especially if they have pain to deal with - and if they don't have pain, they jokingly wonder if they are even alive.

A wonderful, sorrowful letter from you to all of us. Many thanks
